So, here we go again… For the second year in a row the Johnson’s & Payne’s (plus a few friends here and there) will be taking over the Estrella Family Creamery, farm & animals, for a week-plus starting August 9th. I heard from Kelli that currently they have 100 or so goats, 60 cows & calves and two sows that are about ready to have piglets…mmm bacon. Add in the horses, chickens, ducks, and whatever other species they currently have roaming…we will stay very busy. We are grateful for the opportunity, that the Estrella’s are giving us, to experience life on a working farm. Having fumbled through last year’s stay (escaped cow’s, escaped goats, my seemingly lack of problem solving skills and utter exhaustion towards the end) we are confident that this year will go much more smoothly. We are especially hopeful that our refresher period will be much briefer and allow the Estrella Family a longer vacation away from the farm. Once again we all will be writing about the days’ adventures; both good and embarrassing. We will also not forget the camera cable this year so pictures should be posted daily. Food is a priority; expect to see a lot of the details of our daily consumption of cheese and what the farm provides. I said last year that “this will be the vacation that our kids will remember” and it is true. We have been eagerly anticipating this for the last 340 days and are very thankful that the Estrella’s would welcome us back. I hope you check in starting August 10th to see how we are surviving.
